According to authorities, a train bridge under construction in Mizoram's Sairang region fell on wednesday, killing at least 17 employees. police and train authorities report that 17 bodies have so far been found. Around 40 workers were there when the disaster happened on wednesday morning, and many more are suspected to be stuck at the catastrophe site. Construction was ongoing on the railway bridge that would connect Bairabi and Sairang across the Kurung River.
About 21 miles separate the accident scene from Aizawl. More information is awaited. Zoramthanga, the chief minister of Mizoram, is extremely disturbed by the incident. He wrote on facebook that a bridge in Aizawl that was under construction at the time collapsed, killing at least 17 people. Rescue efforts are ongoing.  impacted and deeply grieved by this event. Since there was construction going on at the time of the event, a railway safety crew was already there. A contractor was launching a steel girder in a bridge that was still being built, and it was this girder that fell. The state team is presently leading the rescue effort after the NDRF arrived at the scene in less than 30 minutes, according to Sabyasachi De, the North east Frontier Railway's chief public relations officer. He noted that it was yet unclear what precipitated the fall.
