A metropolitan court in ahmedabad on monday (August 28) issued summons to bihar Deputy Chief Minister
Tejashwi Yadav in a criminal defamation case filed over one of his alleged remarks. Tejashwi Yadav allegedly
said that 'only Gujaratis can be thugs'. The court of Additional Metropolitan Magistrate D J Parmar issued
summons to senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav to appear on september 22 in the case
filed against him under sections 499 and 500 of the indian Penal Code.
The court had conducted an inquiry against Yadav under section 202 of the Code of criminal Procedure on the
basis of a complaint by Ahmedabad-based social activist and businessman Haresh Mehta (69) and found
sufficient grounds to summon the RJD leader. Mehta had filed his complaint in the court with evidence of
Yadav's statement given to the media in Bihar's capital Patna on march 21 this year.
What is the whole matter?
Let us tell you that while reacting to a news about fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, bihar Deputy CM
Tejashwi Yadav took a jibe at the Modi government and said that in today's situation, there are only Gujarati
thugs in the country and their Thugs are forgiven. Who will be responsible if lic and bank money is given and
those people run away with it? In this case, a petition was filed in the court on behalf of social worker and
businessman Haresh Mehta. Along with this petition, Tejashwi Yadav's statement was submitted in the court in a
pen drive as evidence, in which he had said that only Gujaratis can be thugs. Now summons has been issued in
this matter.
