Reportedly former prime minister manmohan singh said that India’s role in steering the new world order is important in

the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war. He said that india has done the right thing by keeping its sovereign and

economic interests in the first place while appealing for peace.

In an interview with The indian Express ahead of the G20 summit, the former prime minister spoke on the

Russia-Ukraine war, India’s role internationally and the border dispute with China. Regarding the Russia-

Ukraine war, manmohan singh said that when there is tension between two or more countries, other countries

are forced to choose one side. He said, I think that by appealing for peace, india has done the right thing in a

better way by giving first place to its sovereign and economic interests.' manmohan singh said that due to the

Russia-Ukraine conflict and the tension between china and Western countries, a lot has changed in the world

order. india has played an important role in the operation of this new system and today India's credibility has

increased globally.

On PM Modi’s claim of making the country the third largest economy by 2047, manmohan singh said that

india will be an economic powerhouse in the coming years. Referring to his article published in The Hindu, he

said that india is standing at the cusp of a unique economic opportunity in the changing global system.

However, it has a huge market and will be a powerhouse of economy across the world in the coming decades

by producing and manufacturing through natural resources.

manmohan singh said- There are more hopes than worries about the future of the country.

The former prime minister said, 'I have more hopes than worries about the future of india, but my optimism

depends on how harmonious the atmosphere is in the indian society because it is the most important

foundation for true development.' He said that where india stands in the world should also become an issue in

the country's politics, but it is important that restraint should be exercised in using diplomacy and foreign

policy for personal politics or party.
