Starting in the late afternoon of Sunday, numerous areas of the city were hit by extremely heavy rain, lightning, and thunder. drivers had to turn on their headlights well before nightfall because of the ominous clouds that dominated the sky. IMD has issued a yellow notice and stated that similar meteorological conditions would persist for the next three days. According to the report, the rain was brought on by a trough from cyclonic circulations over northwest madhya pradesh and a cyclonic circulation building in the northwest Bay of Bengal.

The most rainfall was reported in golconda and Musheerabad at 43 mm, with Saroornagar coming in second at 40 mm. The PVNR Motorway, neighbouring metro rail viaducts, flyovers, petrol stations, bus stops, roadside booths and stores all served as shelter for almost everyone trapped in the downpour. Many areas were severely flooded, making it difficult for drivers to navigate the pit-filled roadways. Their troubles were made worse by the strong water flows.

Dilsukhnagar, Kukatpally, Malakpet, LB Nagar, Ameerpet, Kothapet, Rajendranagar, Chandanagar, and the Old City all saw lightning strikes. Teams from the emergency response organization were working to remove standing water at a number of locations, including Malakpet, Manikonda, Ibrahimnagh, Attapur, Shaikpet, Bahadurpura, Jiyaguda, Erragadda, Moosarambagh and other low-lying districts.

At jubilee hills checkpoint, nagarjuna Circle, Gachibowli Circle, Biodiversity and IKEA intersections, Raidurgam, Shaikpet, Banjara Hills, Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank, Tank Bund, Koti, Abids, MJ Market, Chikkadpally, rtc crossroads, Musheerabad, and Mettuguda, water-logging had a negative impact on traffic movement.
