In relation to the scheduled march being held on the occasion of milad-un-nabi this year, a delegation of the "Markazi Milad Juloos Committee" met with the police Commissioner of hyderabad on Saturday. The Milad committee had previously decided to cancel this year's centralised procession because it was scheduled for the same day as the Ganesh Immersion, which falls on september 28.

At the Integrated Command Control centre at Banjarahills, a group of central Milad organisers and two AIMIM MPs met with Commissioner of police C v Anand on Saturday. They presented him with a representation outlining their desire to observe Milad on october 1. "We have asked the city police commissioner for permission to hold the intended Milad celebrations after immersion. The necessary authorities would be informed of the date in a day or two, according to Syed Khader Mohiuddin Junaid Pasha, general secretary of the Milad Juloos committee. In response to the plea, DCP South Zone P Sai chaitanya stated that the procession's licence would be granted in accordance with the law.

Milad-un-Nabi, which commemorates the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's birth, was observed nationwide on october 9 and went off without incident, with the exception of a few states where young Muslims are accused of upsetting the general populace by chanting incendiary slogans and playing loud dj music.
