Shiv Sena was established on 19 june 1966, at that time the party had raised its voice for the rights of Marathi people. At

that time, the population of Marathas in maharashtra was about 43 percent but their number was the least in the film

industry, business and jobs. Despite the population of Gujaratis being 14 percent, they were the majority in business.

South Indians, comprising nine percent of the population, dominated small businesses. bala Saheb said that South

Indians are getting the jobs of Marathi people. He started running a campaign to hire Marathi people.

But gradually, along with the identity of Marathi people, shiv sena started building its image as a staunch Hindu and

after losing the elections several times, for the first time in the lok sabha elections held in 1989, shiv sena contested the

elections in alliance with the bharatiya janata party and after that Four candidates reached parliament after winning. At

a time when shiv sena was talking about Hindutva, this issue was at its peak, so the party felt that his image would

benefit Shiv Sena.

But this claim of the party backfired and shiv sena remained limited to Maharashtra. It has been very difficult for Shiv

Sena to win even a single seat outside Maharashtra. In UP, the party had won one seat in 1991, that too of MLA. Apart

from this, for the first time in the year 2021, shiv sena got an mp from outside maharashtra i.e. from Dadra and Nagar

Haveli. Now Eknath Shinde wants to break this tradition of the party and make inroads in other states also. This is the

reason why the party has started its expansion from Rajasthan.
