Recently, farmers of punjab had staged a protest from roads to railway tracks to increase the rates of sugarcane.
Only two days had passed since their protest ended when on saturday the ex-servicemen were seen protesting on
the railway track. A group of ex-servicemen staged a sit-in on the railway tracks at Patiala’s Shambhu railway
station for nearly 12 hours on saturday after being stopped from going to delhi to protest against alleged
anomalies in the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme. Due to which the movement of many trains was
affected.
Giving information, government Railway police (GRP) officials said that the movement of trains on the section
was affected due to the protest. He told that the district administration officials assured that the governor will
meet him. After this, the protesters ended the protest at around 4.30 pm. Some protesters had said earlier in the
day that they were going to delhi by different modes of transport when police stopped them from entering
Haryana through the Shambhu border.
Movement of trains resumed after the strike ended
A GRP official said that the movement of trains going towards delhi, Jammu and amritsar was affected due to
the protest. He said that the protest has been ended and the movement of trains has been restored. Sources said
that about 250 ex-servicemen sat on strike at the railway station in the morning, but later their number increased.
Farmers were derailed by cm Mann's assurance
Let us tell you that on november 24, cm Bhagwant Mann had called the people of the farmers organization to
meet. After this, they were told by cm Mann that the government will give good news to the farmers by
increasing the price of sugarcane in the coming days, then the farmers agreed to end the protest.
