Encouraged by the performance of the bharatiya janata party (BJP) in the chhattisgarh assembly elections, the
Party’s state in-charge Om Mathur on saturday expressed confidence that the congress will be wiped out in the
state in the lok sabha elections to be held next year. Mathur, who arrived in the state to attend the meeting of newly elected bjp MLAs on sunday, said this on saturday evening. In the 2019 lok sabha elections, bjp had
won 9 out of total 11 lok sabha seats in the state and congress had won two seats. When asked about the visit
of party observers on sunday to attend the bjp legislature party meeting, Mathur said, Our party observers are
coming and what decision they will take, we are waiting for it.'
How will the chief minister of chhattisgarh be selected?
When asked about any formula for choosing the chief minister in the state, he said, There is no formula. There
is a system set by the bjp Parliamentary Board which will be followed. When asked about the party’s plans for
the lok sabha elections, he said, I congratulate all the party workers and leadership for achieving a historic
victory in the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. It is certain that congress will be wiped out in the Lok Sabha
elections.
In chhattisgarh, a meeting of 54 newly elected MLAs will be held at 12 noon on sunday to elect the leader of
the bjp legislative party. After the meeting, the doubt over who will be the chief minister is likely to end. BJP
had not announced its chief ministerial candidate before the assembly elections held last month. Three observers
of the party, Union Ministers arjun munda and sarbananda sonowal and party general secretary Dushyant
Kumar gautam will be present in the meeting. Mathur, Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya and party’s co-in-
charge for the state Nitin Nabin will also be present in the meeting.
