'Fertilizers purchased at high rates' - anjali Damania
It is worth noting that former aam aadmi party leader anjali Damania claimed that despite the Central Government's 2016 directive to transfer funds directly to the bank accounts of farmers under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the Agriculture Department purchased equipment and fertilizers at high rates for distribution among farmers.
anjali Damania presented documents related to the alleged scam and claimed, "These documents are proof of how the minister violated the laws by usurping the farmers' money. According to the government Resolution (GR) related to DBT, all the scheme-related funds were to be transferred directly to the bank accounts of farmers, except for some government institutions like Mahabij, KVK and MAIDC, which manufacture their own goods. However, this rule was ignored." anjali Damania cited a GR dated 12 september 2018, which listed 62 components coming under DBT. anjali Damania said that although the chief minister has the authority to add new components to the DBT list, existing components cannot be removed without the approval of a committee of the Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary and Planning Secretary. She said that just before the Model Code of Conduct for the lok sabha elections came into force, the state government issued a new GR on march 12, 2024, appointing the Agriculture Commissioner as the controlling officer for the purchase of agricultural material.
