A big scam has been revealed in the purchase of land for the Defense Corridor Project in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The Revenue Board, which is investigating on the instructions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, has found the role of 16 officers suspicious prima facie in its report. These officers also include the name of IAS officer abhishek Prakash, who has already been suspended for demanding a five percent bribe from an investor.
The government is now preparing to take strict action against all these officers. The Appointment Department has given instructions to start departmental proceedings against all. Along with sending show cause notices to all the officers who came under the purview of the investigation, the process of compensating (recovery) the financial loss incurred during land acquisition has also been expedited. It is also being seen in the investigation that how much loss was caused to the government treasury due to the mistake of which officer, recovery can also be made from them accordingly.
The Defense Corridor project is a very ambitious scheme of the government, which aims to make the country self-reliant in the defense sector. Under this project, defense industrial parks are being built in Lucknow, Jhansi, Aligarh, Chitrakoot, kanpur and Agra. During the purchase of land in Lucknow, many officers flouted the rules and distributed compensation in a wrong manner and embezzled government money.
