The US took a big step on monday (May 19) and announced a visa ban on the owners, officers and senior management of travel agencies working in India. This ban will apply to those individuals who have been found to be promoting illegal immigration and human trafficking in the US. The US State Department said in an official statement, "The purpose of our immigration policy is not only to warn potential immigrants of the danger, but to eliminate the networks that sponsor and operate this process." Consular and Diplomatic Security service officers posted at the US Embassy and Consulates in india have long been keeping an eye on illegal immigration and human trafficking activities. Now it has become clear under their surveillance that some travel agencies based in india are deliberately promoting illegal migration to the US through false documents, illegal advice, and visa fraud.

What kind of ban has been imposed?

The State Department clarified that this visa ban is part of a global policy. This means that this policy is not limited to india only. It also applies to those who can travel to the US under the Visa Waiver Program. Violators of the rules will not be allowed to enter the US. However, the US Embassy in New delhi has refused to share the names of those agencies and individuals under the privacy policy.

America's objective

The US State Department says that strict enforcement of immigration laws is necessary to protect the security of our nation and the legal process. The main objectives behind this policy are to make the public aware of the dangers of illegal immigration, dismantle the human trafficking network and strengthen the credibility of the migration system.
