A tragic plane crash has occurred today (12 June) near Sardar Vallabhbhai patel international airport in ahmedabad, Gujarat. air india flight AI-171 took off from ahmedabad to london and the plane crashed a few minutes after takeoff. There were a total of 242 people on board this plane, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. At the same time, Samajwadi party leader IP Singh has expressed grief over this accident and posted on Twitter.

SP leader IP Singh wrote on twitter - "Very gruesome pictures of people killed in the plane crash are coming from Ahmedabad. Which cannot be tweeted. Oh God, who has cast an evil eye on the country. Lord, protect the country." Earlier, SP chief akhilesh yadav had posted on instagram and wrote, "Immediate clarification of the ahmedabad plane crash should be given so that the doubts can be eradicated. Prayers for all the passengers and crew members. Highest level rescue, relief and treatment should be provided."

The exact number of dead in this accident is not known yet but it is feared that many people have died. air india issued a statement and expressed grief over the accident.

air india posted on instagram and wrote, "Air india said, "There were 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft in this flight which departed from ahmedabad at 1:38 pm. Of these, 169 are indian citizens, 53 are british citizens, 1 is a Canadian citizen and 7 are Portuguese citizens. The injured are being taken to nearby hospitals. We have also set up a dedicated passenger helpline number 1800 5691 444 to provide further information."
