New cabinet Expansion: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's government underwent its fourth cabinet expansion on Saturday.
Appointment of Charan Boro: Bodoland People's Front (BPF) mla Charan Boro was sworn in as a new cabinet minister by governor Laxman Prasad acharya at the raj Bhavan.
About Charan Boro:
A strong second-term mla from the BPF.
His appointment fills the last vacant ministerial position in the assam cabinet.
BPF’s Political Role:
The Bodoland People's Front was previously not a formal part of the BJP-led alliance but had been supporting the government in the Assembly.
This appointment marks a formal integration of the BPF into the assam cabinet.
BTC election Victory:
The BPF recently achieved a landslide victory in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections held on september 22.
The party secured 28 out of 40 seats, winning a clear majority in the council.
The elections were contested by 316 candidates across the five BTR districts: Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa, and Tamulpur.
Cabinet Composition:
With this expansion, the assam cabinet is now complete.
It comprises the chief minister, 15 bjp MLAs, 2 from Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), 1 from the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and 1 from the BPF.

It also highlights the BJP-led alliance’s strengthened position with key regional players like the BPF joining the government.
