Lohri : Special Dishes to prepare!!!


Lohri festival is celebrated on 13 january in the first month after the beginning of the new year. It is also known as a new crop. Lohri festival is celebrated especially in punjab and Haryana. Especially the people of the punjabi community celebrate this festival with great pomp. Many types of traditional dishes and sweets are prepared on this occasion. Jaggery pudding

Jaggery dishes are specially made and eaten on the occasion of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. That's why jaggery is used instead of sugar to make sweet things at the festival of Lohri. 

Both sesame and jaggery are beneficial for health. It is definitely made on Lohri. Tilkut is eaten on Lohri. There is also a tradition of eating sesame seeds. Sesame Tikki is also made on this festive.

Pinni is definitely made

Pinni is the local dish of Punjab. It is specially made here. The Lohri festival of Punjabis is considered incomplete without pinni. Dry fruits, jaggery, and ghee are used in Pinni. Pinni made of all these things together gives warmth in the winter season along with the taste.

Jaggery and Peanut Chikki

Although peanuts and jaggery start as soon as winter comes, on the occasion of Lohri, chikki is specially prepared by mixing jaggery and peanuts. It is made from groundnut, jaggery and ghee. It can be stored for a long time along with its taste.
