When you are outside and suddenly the mobile signal goes out, that moment can be very disturbing. No GPS, no music and no way to contact anyone. Whether you are an Android user or an iphone user, sometimes the network can disappear without any warning. The good news is that by adopting some easy tips, you can regain the connection in a few minutes.

Turn Airplane mode on and off

The fastest and easiest way is to turn on Airplane mode and turn it off after a few seconds. This disconnects the phone from the network and reconnects and often gets a better signal.

On Android: Slide down the screen from the top, tap on the airplane icon, wait for 15 seconds and then tap again to turn it off.

On iPhone: Slide down from the top right corner of the screen, press the airplane icon (will appear in orange when turned on), then press again after a few moments to turn it off.

Reset network settings

If the above method doesn't work, resetting network settings can be an effective way to do this. Note that this will delete your Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and VPN settings.

On Android: Go to Settings and select the "Reset network settings" or "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth" option.

On iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iphone > Reset > Reset Network Settings and confirm.

Check for carrier or software updates

Sometimes the problem is not with your phone, but with your carrier settings. Network providers periodically send updates that improve connectivity.

On iPhone: You'll receive an automatic notification if an update is available, or you can check manually by going to Settings > General > About.

On Android: Varies by model, but most phones have this option under Settings > Network & Internet > Carrier Settings.
