The planned threequel has been included in the MCU as a result of Disney's acquisition of Fox's film and television assets. Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the titular wisecracking mercenary Wade Wilson in Deadpool 3, and Shawn Levy, who worked with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, will be directing. Kevin Feige has announced that Deadpool 3 would remain R-rated despite the fact that the franchise is now in the hands of Marvel. However, the character may now experiment in the PG-13 sandbox for future MCU appearances. Deadpool 3 doesn't yet have a firm release date, although there are plans to start shooting in late 2022.
