If you are also getting calls or messages to earn thousands of rupees every month by installing mobile towers on your house or land, then be careful. TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has issued a warning regarding such fake offers. According to TRAI, some fraudsters are giving tempting offers to people by claiming to be associated with big telecom companies like Airtel, Jio, bsnl or Vi. They claim that installing a mobile tower on your land will earn a fixed income every month but in reality it is an organized fraud.
TRAI posted from its official X (earlier Twitter) account that neither TRAI issues NOC for installing any tower nor charges any fee. These calls and SMS are completely fake and are being made with the intention of cheating people. The trap of these fraudsters is not limited to phone calls only, they are also trying to trap people through newspapers and other publicity mediums. Many times they extort money from people by showing fake documents and fake NOCs like registration fees, environmental clearance, processing charges etc.
Fraud in Maharashtra
Recently, a 55-year-old man in Jalgaon, maharashtra was duped of about Rs 34.63 lakh by such a gang. He was promised that he would earn Rs 20,000 per month on installing a tower. But in reality, he was duped through fake certificates and fake seals of reputed departments.
How to keep yourself safe?

Immediately block suspicious calls, SMS or emails from the TRAI DND app and lodge a complaint on http://cybercrime.gov.in or helpline 1930. Do not believe any attractive offer without checking it.
