Breakfast is not included in the National Lunch Program for kids, according to Union minister of State for education annapurna Devi. In response to a question by Thoothukudi mp Kanimozhi in the lok sabha today, the Union administration projected that providing breakfast to 12 million National Lunch Program pupils will cost Rs 4,000 crore in 2021-22. As a result, have any efforts been taken to establish the student breakfast programme? Is this anything that the Union cabinet has looked into?

"According to the National Food Security Act 2013, kids in grades 1 to 8 or in all municipal, government, and government-aided schools between the ages of 6 and 14 are eligible for a nutritious cooked lunch," wrote annapurna Devi, Union minister of State for Education. This food is provided to them on non-government holiday working days. Elementary school pupils are given 450 calories of meals with 12 grammes of protein, according to the Prime Minister's Potion Plan. For primary school children, it also delivers 700 calories of food, including 20 grammes of protein.

In this situation, the government has no plans to provide breakfast for school children. At the same time, some states and union territories are providing extra nutrients, such as milk, eggs, and fruit, from their own funds.
