Turkey-Syria quake: India's 'Operation Dost' continues to help..


Twelve thousand people have now perished as a result of the earthquake in turkey and Syria.

'Operation Dost' continues

The Government of India has offered assistance in response to the severe devastation brought on by the earthquake in Turkey.  In this episode, 101 NDRF personnel have reached turkey by two special aircraft C-17 Globemaster and the rescue operation has started. It has been named Operation Dost. At the same time, another NDRF team will be sent from delhi to Turkey. NDRF DG Atul Karwal told that the earthquake has caused huge devastation and rescue operations are being carried out in the most affected areas.

DG NDRF told that a total of 7 vehicles, and 101 rescuers have gone with both teams. In which,5 women rescuers are also included. Four sniffer dogs have also been sent along with the teams. These teams have been prepared and sent according to every situation. He told that the requirement for a third team was sent to us. It has been airlifted from varanasi and brought to Delhi. In the next few hours, this team will leave for turkey with 51 rescuers, one dog and 4 vehicles.

Damage in all areas

Turkey's disaster management agency said on wednesday that those killed in the earthquake, who could not be identified, would be buried within five days. The agency said that the death toll in the country has crossed 8,500. The Syrian health ministry said the death toll in government-held areas had exceeded 1,200, while at least 1,400 people were killed in the rebel-held northwest. Since the earthquake on Monday, the total number of dead has exceeded 12 thousand.
