The Pegasus snooping matter will be investigated by an expert panel established by the supreme Court. A fuller order on this is likely next week, according to India's Chief Justice. In the courtroom, CJI ramana told senior attorney CU Singh that the high court plans to issue an order setting up an investigation committee in the Pegasus case this week. However, he noted that due to personal circumstances, some of the specialists they had in mind for the panel will be unable to attend.

The order might come as early as next week, according to the CJI. "By next week, we'll be able to complete the participants of the Technical Expert Team and issue instructions," CJI ramana stated. Over 300 verified indian mobile phone digits were on a list of prospective targets for monitoring using Pegasus malware, according to an international media consortium. Many identities have surfaced in the allegations, claiming to have been targeted by the spyware, ranging from top indian journalists to opposition politicians and even some in the federal government.

The government had previously offered to form a Technical Expert Panel made up of separate specialists to investigate whether the Pegasus software had been used to spy on the telephones of important indian politicians and the media.
