This is a first-of-its-kind single-location energy storage installation with wind and solar capacities, according to Greenko. The project will cost more than $3 billion and will include pumped storage (10,800 MWh of daily storage), solar (3,000 MW), and wind (550 MW). The project will help to reduce CO2 emissions by 15 million tonnes per year, the equivalent of three million cars. "It's a source of great satisfaction for Greenko that we've pioneered the delivery of a 24/7 dispatchable renewable energy solution for industrial decarbonization and energy transition, ahead of global ambition," stated Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder, CEO, and MD of Greenko Group.
He credited this to national policy backing as well as jagan Mohan Reddy's visionary leadership in developing andhra pradesh into a sustainable manufacturing hub. andhra pradesh, he says, is on track to become India's energy storage centre, thanks to the state's favourable topography for Pumped Storage Plants (PSPs). This integrated solution is critical for the country to become energy self-sufficient and a leader in decarbonized economies.
