High alert in Goa! Next 24 hours to bring heavy rain...

According to reports, the india Meteorological Department (IMD) on sunday issued a red alert for goa and forecasted heavy rains and strong winds for the coastal state over the next 24 hours. "Moderate to heavy spells of rain" with "winds of speed 40 to 50 kilometres per hour gusting to 60 kmph," according to a statement from the weather office.

Additionally, it mentioned that Pernem, Tiswadi, Bardez, Bicholim, and Sattari (all in the North goa district) talukas of the state had clouds in the morning. More clouds are being drawn in by the Arabian Sea. As clouds are generally moving in a north-eastern direction, more talukas are likely to be affected as well, according to the weather forecasting agency. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has reportedly activated its control rooms in both the North and South goa districts as a result of the rainfall warning.

Goa is expected to experience extremely heavy rains over the next 24 hours. The public is advised not to enter flooded or waterlogged areas, according to the SDMA. Due to the high water levels and erratic weather, Drishti Marine, the state government-appointed lifesaving organisation, advised people against swimming.
