KIFF 2025: event Overview
The Khajuraho international Film festival (KIFF) will be held from december 16 to 22 in Khajuraho.
Preparations for the festival are underway, but the event has recently been surrounded by controversies, logistical challenges, and public statements from organizers and guests.
The festival is considered an important cultural platform for cinema and local talent in Bundelkhand.
Raja Bundela on Inviting Ministers
Festival organizer and actor raja Bundela addressed the media in a press conference.
He stated that ministers from delhi to bhopal have been formally invited.
However, he clarified that it is impossible to force ministers to attend.
Bundela remarked, “I can’t bring ministers here by tying them up.”
He emphasized that the organizer’s responsibility is limited to sending invitations, arranging facilities, and providing information.
Challenges in Organizing the Festival
Raja Bundela highlighted transportation issues as a major hurdle.
Due to the lack of direct flights from mumbai to Khajuraho, many film personalities declined to attend.
He also mentioned repeated issues with indigo flight cancellations.
As a result, the event format has been modified this year.
Despite challenges, he said continuous efforts are being made to improve the festival.
Journalists’ Allegations and Questions
Some local and district-level journalists alleged that only select media members were invited to the press conference.
Questions were raised about government grants, festival expenses, and transparency.
Concerns were also expressed about benefits to Khajuraho and opportunities for local artists.
11th Edition Details
The 11th edition of KIFF will take place at the Shilpgram Complex of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre.
This year’s festival is dedicated to late actor dharmendra and actor Asrani.
Actress hema malini is expected to attend.
Cultural Programs and Film Screenings
Seven temporary open-air cinemas will be set up, including one in Bamitha.
Cultural and entertainment programs will be held every evening.
Films from india and abroad will be screened during the festival.
Platform for local Talent
Raja Bundela claimed the festival has helped Bundeli artists gain recognition.
Filmmakers like Shekhar Kapur, boney kapoor, and mani ratnam have shown interest in the region.
Khajuraho, Orchha, and Chitrakoot are emerging as film destinations.
Anupam Kher on His Canceled Flight
Actor anupam kher shared a video after his flight to Khajuraho was canceled.
His film ‘Tanvi the Great’ is the opening film of KIFF.
After landing in Varanasi, he discovered there were no flights to Khajuraho.
Kher said, “So what should I do?” while expressing frustration calmly.
He decided to enjoy Varanasi, eat well, and travel by train or road, adding that when situations are beyond control, one should make the best of them.
