An orange signal was released by the indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday, warning of the probability of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on november 13 and 14 in the coastal districts of tamil Nadu, puducherry, and Karaikal. The tamil Nadu government has announced a holiday for educational institutions, including professional colleges, in the mayiladuthurai district on november 14 due to the forecast of severe rainfall.
Schools and institutions in the Viluppuram district of tamil Nadu were closed on tuesday due to the forecast of significant rainfall in the area, according to C. Palani, the district collector for Villupuram. In addition, on november 14, Cuddalore district Collector Arun Thamburaj has announced a holiday for all educational establishments, including professional colleges. It is anticipated that tamil Nadu, puducherry, and Karaikal's coastal districts may receive between 115.6 and 204.4 mm of rain.
IMD posted on X, saying, "Orange Alert! On november 13 and 14, there is a chance of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) in the coastal districts of tamil Nadu, puducherry, and Karaikal. Remain vigilant and educated!"
The statement continued, saying that there was a chance of isolated areas of heavy to very heavy rain in the tamil Nadu and puducherry districts of Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram. Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, mayiladuthurai districts of tamil Nadu, and the Karaikal area are among the isolated areas over which heavy rain is also predicted. These areas are Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Tiruvannamalai, and Kallakurichi."
