Neville Roy Singham was born in 1954 in the United States; his father was Sri Lankan. Archibald Wickramaraja Singham was the father of Singham.

Burma (now Myanmar) was under british domination when Archibald was born. Singham joined the American labor group Revolutionary Black workers League while he was a college student and took part in a number of movements there. This league had ties to socialist philosophy.

Singham subsequently proceeded to study at Harvard University. After leaving here in 1980, he came back and founded the consulting firm Thoughtwork. This form was initially exclusive to Chicago. Singham served as a strategic technology advisor for huawei from 2001 to 2008. Following this, Singham made significant headway and his business began advising Microsoft, Oracle, and The Guardian on computer matters. 

Following this, Singham's business relocated its headquarters to china and concentrated mostly on this market. Another important factor in the company's decision to relocate to china is thought to have been Singham's Marxist beliefs. Currently, Singham's business collaborates with over 30 businesses globally.
