What resolution UN pass to support Gaza Strip's population?

Israel and Hamas have been engaged in combat since october 7. In retaliatory strikes on the same day, israel murdered over 20,000 Palestinians and injured numerous others, in addition to around 1200 Israelis. At least 300 Palestinians have lost their lives in this conflict every day, according to statistics from Hamas-controlled Gaza's health Ministry. Only during the seven-day truce was there relief.

A resolution has now been approved by the UN Security Council in recognition of the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian nationals residing in Gaza. The resolution that was approved on friday night makes no mention of the continuing hostilities between israel and Hamas. After several days of negotiations with America over this idea—because America had vetoed the previous one—this proposal was finally submitted. Nevertheless, during the vote process, America and russia did not back this plan.

What number of nations supported the proposal?

Prior to this proposal, another one was made on november 15; it was vetoed since only 12 out of 15 voters supported it, while the US, the UK, and russia abstained from voting. On friday, when this plan was put to a vote once more, thirteen nations supported it, while the united states and russia once more abstained from the vote. This time, though, the proposition was approved.

The US delegate to the council, Linda Thomas Greenfield, stated that international law applies not only to israel but also to Hamas, the terrorist organization that started the crisis and is currently attacking houses, hospitals, and UN bases.
