Rejuvenation plans for a 55-kilometer stretch from the Osmansagar dam downstream to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) east at Gouravelli and from Himayatsagar downstream to the confluence site at Bapughat have been proposed by the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL).

The development project calls for clearing on both sides of the river for proposals that include an East-West traffic corridor along the river, 39 sewage treatment facilities, and related infrastructure.

The Old City will be developed in several ways by this project, including pedestrian zones, plazas, heritage areas, bike paths, green spaces, hawker zones, bridges, sports facilities, parking lots, commercial spaces, retail areas, and infrastructure related to hospitality.

Furthermore, the project will prioritize the implementation of a comprehensive strategy aimed at converting the River Musi and its environs into an environmentally sustainable area. An additional important part of this endeavour is the preservation of cultural heritage places.
