The bjp contender for the Mandi lok sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, actor-turned-politician kangana ranaut, denied on monday that she had ever eaten beef, citing her pride as a "proud Hindu." Additionally, she rejected the accusation, calling it "completely baseless rumours" made against her. "I don't consume beef or any other kind of red meat, it is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me," the actor-turned-politician stated in response to X.

"I have been advocating and promoting yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them, jai Shri Ram," she added.

After Congressman Vijay Wadettiwar, the leader of the Opposition in the Maharasthtra Assembly, said that the bjp lok sabha candidate had previously tweeted that she enjoyed and ate beef, Ranaut responded. The party has now awarded her a ticket to run in the forthcoming elections.

At a maharashtra event on april 5, Wadettiwar asserted that the bjp was "welcoming" of all corrupt leaders.

A number of bjp leaders backed Ranaut in response to the accusation.

Keshav Upadhye, a bjp spokesperson, stated in a statement that Wadettiwar's comment "reflects Congress' dirty culture".

It can't argue with us about matters. This demonstrates the party's defeatist mindset," the PTI news agency cited him as saying.

Only a few weeks had passed after Congresswoman supriya Shrinate's instagram account posted a lewd picture of kangana ranaut with a disparaging comment. This current incident followed suit.

She criticised Shrinate harshly at the time, stating that "every woman deserves her dignity."
