For thousands of hopefuls who are still considering pursuing the American Dream, a terrifying warning from an indian student studying in the US has served as a wake-up call.  In a social media post, the US graduate cautioned his colleagues back home to "avoid coming to the USA for grad school."  He went on to describe his experience, saying that he arrived in America in the early 2010s, when technology was flourishing, there were many jobs, and being authorized for OPT/H1B wasn't a nightmare.

But that ideal is long gone.  Now that Big Tech has stopped sponsoring visas, even highly qualified university grads are having trouble finding employment.  Startups are closing their doors.  Visas are becoming more difficult to obtain.  Furthermore, it is not worth it to spend or take out a loan of ₹70 lakh for higher education in the US if you are relocating from India.

Even OPT, which once drew thousands of indian students, is no longer reliable for graduates.  You're left with a degree, no job, no visa, and a ton of debt with just one change in policy.  In the hopes of achieving a better life in America, the indian student strongly cautions against taking out loans or mortgaging your parents' home.  Take a chance if you can afford ₹80–100 lakh without blinking.  If not, avoid doing it.

Considering how badly the US and indian employment markets are doing, it is simply not worth the added hassle of relocating abroad. Starting and building in india is preferable because you won't have to worry about visas and deportation every day.
