300 Acres of Hostels
The Devanahalli facility has received $2.56 billion from Foxconn, the biggest electronics manufacturer in the world. On over 300 acres in the villages of Devanahalli and Chapparadahalli in the Devanahalli taluk, it is building staff hostels. The distance from Kempegowda international Airport in Bengaluru is around 23 kilometers.
Foxconn intends to match the Rs 3,000 crore it has already invested in the first phase (2023–24) in the second phase (2026–27). By december of this year, 100,000 iPhones are expected to be produced.
Priority for women in Hostels
About 30,000 employees will be able to stay at the hostel that Foxconn is building. The hostel's construction is anticipated to be finished by the end of this year, according to media reports. After China, this dormitory is anticipated to be the second-largest in the world.
In Sriperumbudur, tamil Nadu, a similar hostel model has been put into place where about 18,000 workers can live.
Women will make up 50–80% of the 30,000 workers living in the dormitory in Devanahalli, and they will be given preference when it comes to housing.
Due to an increase in iphone production, Foxconn is said to have more than doubled its income in india to over USD 20 billion (about Rs 1.7 lakh crore) in the fiscal year 2024–2025.
