Many people died in a stampede during RCB's victory parade outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. prime minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over this on wednesday (June 04, 2025). At least 11 people have died in the accident so far and many others are injured.

On the social media platform X, he wrote, "The accident in Bengaluru is very sad. In this sad moment, my condolences are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured get well soon." 


There was a stampede outside the entry gate

Thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium to get a glimpse of the team and the police could not control them. Mild force had to be used for this. These fans got into a stampede outside the entry gate while trying to enter the stadium. The seriously injured are being treated at Vaidehi Hospital and Bowring Hospital and the death toll is expected to increase. 


What did bcci say about the incident

Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar said, "The crowd became unruly and it became difficult for the police, due to which we had to stop the procession." The BCCI said that the celebration of RCB's IPL victory should have been planned better. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said, "Adequate precautions should have been taken and security measures should have been kept in mind for organizing a victory celebration of this level. There has been a lapse somewhere."


Earlier, when the team reached Bengaluru on wednesday afternoon, they were warmly greeted by a large number of fans standing on both sides of the road outside the airport. Fans were standing in queues on the roads to get a glimpse of the team players along with Virat Kohli.
