26.9 crore people rescued from poverty
: It has been said that looking at contemporary data including the recently released Household Consumption Expenditure Trend survey in india, shows that the poverty rate in the country has come down. A few days ago, a report released by the World bank stated that 34.47 crore people were in extreme poverty in india in 2011-2012. This has reduced to 7.5 crore in 2023 and it has been reported that india has saved 26.9 crore people from extreme poverty in the last 11 years alone.

 Poverty reduced to 4.6%: Pointing to this, sbi has predicted that the number of people living in extreme poverty in india will reduce to 4.6 percent by 2024. sbi says it is releasing this estimate based on the Household Consumption Expenditure survey and various contemporary research reports. The sbi statement states that this conclusion was reached after examining data obtained under the Modified Mixed Recall Period (MMRP).
