Gary Kirsten spent a few months as the coach of Pakistan’s ODI and t20 teams. Speaking about it, he said that his tenure was like a “dream” and that the Pakistani cricket administration was very ‘chaotic’. He also revealed that he soon realized that he had no power over the selection of the pakistan team, which prevented him from directly approaching the players. “It was a chaotic few months. I soon realized that I could not have any major impact. Once I was removed from the selection responsibilities and asked to lead the team, it became very difficult for me as a coach to have any positive impact on the group.”
"If I were called back to pakistan tomorrow, I would definitely go, but I would want to go for the players and I would want to go in the right circumstances. cricket teams should be led by the cricketers," "When that doesn't happen, when there is too much influence from outside, too much influence, it is difficult for the key players in the team to take this team where they need to go."
"I just want to coach a cricket team now, I want to work with the players - I love the Pakistani players, they are the best. I was with them for a very short time, and I feel sorry for them. They feel the pressure to perform more than any other team in the world; when they lose, it is terrible for them, they feel it." said Gary Kirsten.
