Prime minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to 5 countries. PM Modi, who reached Trinidad and Tobago on thursday (July 3, 2025) after Ghana, started his speech with Sitaram and jai Shri Ram. He thanked prime minister Kamala prasad Bissessar for the welcome.
Addressing the indian community, PM Modi said that I have come to this beautiful land some time ago, where the chirping of birds keeps resonating and my first interaction was with the indian community here. PM Modi said that it feels very natural, because we are part of the same family. The journey of the indian community in Trinidad and Tobago is full of courage. The circumstances your ancestors faced would have broken even the strongest souls, but they faced the difficulties with hope.
'They left their soil, but not the salt'
PM Modi said that your ancestors faced the problems bravely. They left behind ganga and Yamuna, but carried the Ramayana in their hearts. They left their soil, but not the salt. They were not just migrants, they were messengers of an eternal civilization. Their contribution has benefited this country culturally, economically and spiritually.
'25 years ago I came here'
PM Modi said that it has been 25 years since I last came. Our friendship has become even stronger. Banaras, Patna, kolkata and delhi may be cities of India, but the streets here are also named after them. Navratri, Mahashivratri and Janmashtami are celebrated here with joy, gaiety and pride. I can see the warmth of many familiar faces here. I can see curiosity in the bright eyes of the younger generation, who are eager to know each other and grow together. Our relationship extends far beyond geography and generations.
He said that it is an honour for me to bring the replica of Ram Mandir and some water of Saryu river to Ayodhya. PM Modi said that you all know that the world's largest spiritual gathering Maha Kumbh was held earlier this year. I have had the privilege of taking the water of maha Kumbh with me. I request Kamla ji to offer the holy water of Saryu river and maha Kumbh in ganga Dhara here.
