The
karnataka government on
tuesday (July 15, 2025) has issued a notification regarding
cinema hall tickets across the state. Under this, now for all films and theaters, whether they are multiplexes, or whatever the
language of the film, the maximum price of Rs 200 per show ticket including entertainment tax has been fixed.
According to the report of
news agency ANI, this proposal comes under the
karnataka cinema (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules 2025 and has been issued by the
home Department using the powers conferred under Section 19 of the
karnataka cinema (Regulation) Act 1964.
After this decision of the
karnataka government, all
cinema lovers seem happy. The reason behind this order of the
government is also believed to be to encourage
people to go to the theater. As per the instructions of the state
government, the maximum price of the ticket will now be up to Rs 200. These rules will apply to all types of
cinema halls and multiplexes. In such a situation, now the
theater operators will not be able to show their arbitrariness.
Under which rule was the decision taken?
As per the procedure, the draft is being published for public input and any objection or suggestion is invited within fifteen days from the date of publication in the official gazette. The draft notification states that a provision will be added to sub-rule (6) of Rule 55. Provided that in all cinemas of the state, including multiplexes, the price of tickets for each show for all
language films will not exceed Rs 200 including entertainment tax.
In addition, the proposed amendment includes the removal of Rule 146 from the existing 2014 rules. It states that Rule 146 and its related entries will be deleted in the said rules.
