The shift is evident in Bollywood, not only in the narratives but also in the way new characters are greeted. Veteran actor gulshan grover gave a meaningful reflection on these changes, particularly in the selection and presentation of emerging talent, during the Heer Express trailer event.

Grover recounted his time spent working on the first films of now-famous actresses, including katrina kaif, Bipasha Basu, kangana ranaut, and rani Mukerji. He emphasized how each of them had their own niche in the business and had a unique on-screen persona.

His admiration for novice Divita Juneja, who plays the lead in Heer Express, reflected his conviction that up-and-coming talent can likewise leave a lasting impression, given the correct circumstances.

Crucially, Grover also discussed the evolution of casting decisions.

He said that it was a brave move for sanjay leela bhansali to choose alia bhatt for Gangubai Kathiawadi, particularly for a part that would have often been played by a taller, fuller-figured actress.

By selecting alia, the director questioned conventional ideas of physicality in historical dramas, emphasizing presence and performance instead. Bollywood's notion of a "leading lady" appears to be more inclusive—and far more promising—given the fresh voices and evolving viewpoints that are driving modern film.
