Amidst the fierce criticism being leveled at indian cricket team captain rohit sharma over his fitness and future, former cricketer and Yuvraj Singh's father, yograj singh, has extended a strong hand of support to him. He has firmly stated that rohit sharma can play cricket till the age of 45 and that the indian team needs his services for another five years. Recently, while rohit sharma has retired from Test and t20 cricket, there were reports that he may soon be dropped from ODIs as well. Many have been questioning his fitness. Responding to these criticisms, yograj singh said, "Those who talk about Rohit's fitness don't know cricket."
Recalling his Man of the Match award for scoring 76 runs off 83 balls in a tough match against new zealand in the 2025 Champions Trophy final, Yograj said, "That one innings is enough to show what quality Rohit is. On one side is Rohit's batting, on the other side is the batting of other players. That game proved why he can play till the age of 45." yograj singh, who urged the bcci to help rohit sharma continue to play, went a step further and said, "If necessary, appoint four people and make Rohit run 10 km every morning. He should play for the country for another 5 years." He also said, "Players like Rohit are diamonds. They should not be thrown out of the team. If I were the coach, I would make a team that no one can beat with these players."

Yograj Singh also advised rohit sharma to focus more on local cricket matches to maintain his fitness and form. He believes that playing regularly can help him stay fit. In a situation where it is being said that the cricket career of rohit sharma, who was the pillar of the indian team, is nearing the final stage, Yograj Singh’s confidence and support have given great encouragement to Rohit Sharma’s fans. At the same time, some are also making fun of his statement that rohit sharma should play until the age of 45.
