This weekend turned out to be a forgettable one at the box office, with no major releases pulling crowds to the theatres. The only notable new film was Anupama Parameshwaran’s Paradha, but despite initial buzz, the film failed to click with the audience. Mixed reviews coupled with weak word of mouth kept the footfalls low, and the movie struggled to gain momentum even across the weekend. Audiences have clearly given Paradha the cold shoulder.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which entered its second weekend, managed to stay afloat. Though it didn’t show any significant growth, Rajini’s star power ensured the film survived despite slowing numbers. On the other hand, war 2 was nearly invisible at the telugu box office, with theatres reporting minimal footfalls. Surprisingly, the mythological drama Mahavatar narasimha stood tall, continuing its steady run across metros, though its performance in towns and smaller centers remained modest.

Adding to the mix, kannada film Su showed encouraging signs this weekend. After being overshadowed by biggies like Coolie and war 2 during its release, it finally found its footing, especially in urban areas of andhra pradesh and Telangana. The film witnessed decent growth in cities, proving that good content can slowly carve its space even when competing with star-driven projects.

Overall, however, it was a dull and disappointing weekend at the telugu box office. With no notable releases and the previous biggies fading out after mixed responses, theatres wore a deserted look. As the last week of august doesn’t promise any major releases either, film lovers will have to pin their hopes on September, when fresh big-ticket films are lined up to bring back the buzz and energy to cinemas.
