In Assam's Morigan district, a father reportedly sold his two-and-a-half-year-old kid for Rs 40,000 to buy narcotics. According to reports, the event occurred in Laharighat hamlet in Morigaon, some 80 kilometres east of Guwahati. According to the allegation submitted by the kid's mother, the accused, Aminul islam, sold the child to one Sazida Begum. The police have taken both Aminul islam and Sazida Begum into custody.

Rukmina Begum had been staying with her father for the last few months after a disagreement with her husband over his alleged participation in drug trafficking. Aminul Begum requested that she hand their son to him so that he may get his identity card prepared. When he did not return the kid after two or three days, Rukmina got suspicious and discovered that the infant had been sold for money. On thursday, august 5, she approached the police and the kid was rescued.

"Aminul sold their son to Sazida Behgum of Goroimari in Morigaon's Laharighat for Rs 40,000 to acquire narcotics, according to the complaint. The police retrieved the youngster from Sazida Begum's home and turned him back to his mother today, based on her complaint filed on thursday "According to the police.

The accused was reportedly involved in other criminal activities such as running a prostitution racket in addition to using and distributing narcotics. The claims are being investigated by the police.
