The india Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of tamil Nadu over the next few days. A weather alert has been issued for nine districts, with the possibility of isolated heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

Districts on Alert

According to the IMD, the following districts are expected to be affected:

  • Kancheepuram

  • Villupuram

  • Puducherry

  • Cuddalore

  • Ariyalur

  • Perambalur

  • Tiruchirappalli

  • Karur

  • Nilgiris

These areas are likely to experience heavy rainfall from May 4 through May 6. The rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and winds with speeds up to 40 km/h.

Broader Weather Outlook

Rainfall is also expected in parts of the Western Ghats region, including Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, and the ghat areas of Coimbatore. The IMD has predicted that these regions may see stronger showers particularly around May 5.

Public Advisory

Authorities advise residents to remain indoors during periods of heavy rain and to avoid open areas during thunderstorms. people in low-lying or flood-prone areas should stay alert to possible waterlogging. Farmers and outdoor workers are also encouraged to take precautions.

The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the recent high temperatures experienced across tamil Nadu. A drop in daytime temperatures is expected between May 4 and May 8 in several districts.
