A senior star was given a plot (a malayalam remake) by a director and his regular writer, who then worked on the script in the actor's home production for a few months. Then, a rights dispute caused the movie to be shelved. The writer managed to surprise the director, who was utterly dissatisfied. In order to entice another Senior Star to make his directorial debut, he obtained the rights to the script and gave it to him. The writer successfully redirected the project, and the director felt deceived because it was his idea to adapt the film.

Yet as luck would have it, the film encountered yet another Right's problem. Another production company was supposed to work on the project. As a result, one of the producers purchased these rights for the author. The original producer who has the rights is refusing to relinquish them without receiving payment, and the project has since been picked up by another producer.

The writer-turned-director is currently caught between the deep sea and the devil. The first director's buddies are pleased and claim that the writer-director received what was due to him. He claims that the double game "earned" him the punishment.
