Customer entitled to compensation
According to the notification issued by the Reserve bank, the Reserve bank (RBI) has changed the rules on complaints of customers taking lockers in the bank. Often there are complaints of theft in bank lockers from customers. However, now if anything is stolen from the locker, the customer will be compensated up to 100 times the locker rent from the concerned bank.
Waiting list number to be displayed
In fact, it has been seen many times that banks are saved from the incident of theft. The customer was told that he was not responsible for the things kept in the locker. In the order given by RBI, it was said that banks will have to put a list of empty lockers, waiting list numbers for lockers on display.
Can take rent for a maximum period of 3 years at a time Whenever you use the locker it will be intimated to you through e-mail and SMS through the bank. RBI has made this rule to protect against any kind of fraud. Banks have the right to collect locker rent for a maximum period of three years at a time. If the locker rent is Rs 2,000 then the bank cannot charge you more than Rs 6,000 excluding other maintenance charges.
