The movie "Premam" is undoubtedly one of the magnificent masterpieces to emerge from the malayalam cinema industry and to have performed well financially. Nivin Pauly and sai pallavi became sudden celebrities as a result of the movie's enormous popularity, while director Alphonse Puthren proved to be a true talent. That was in 2015, and it took the filmmaker 7 years to make his next film, which seemed unfathomable at the time.

Alphonse Puthren created the movie "GOLD" in 2022, which has a brief yet intriguing plot but lacks depth and intense feelings that would make hearts churn. The film, which starred Nayanthara as the leading woman and prithviraj Sukumaran as the protagonist, did not do well. More than that, many have mocked Premam's director for producing such a straightforward film when they were hoping for a creative epiphany from him. Due of this, even the filmmaker vented his anger at the crowd on social media. A year later, he finally revealed his upcoming album, "GIFT."

The background soundtrack for the movie was created by Ilayaraja, and it stars Mallu performers like sandy and newbie Sahana Sarvesh in the key roles. Along with his signature strings, raja garu performed this wonderful aalapa for the title announcement video that just surfaced. It will be interesting to see if gift succeeds where gold had failed in restoring premam director's fame.
