Javed Akhtar's first marriage broke due to alcohol
In an interview given to YouTube channel Mojo Story, javed akhtar said that I am sure that if I had been a good and responsible person or was not a drug addict, the story would have been different today. My first marriage broke because of alcohol addiction.

While talking about his first wife Honey Irani, he said that she is a very good person. I will always have respect for him. I respect him a lot. This is why we are still good friends today. We are best friends.

You will be surprised to know that javed akhtar used to drink an entire bottle of liquor in a day. He himself revealed this in Arbaaz Khan's chat show 'The Invincibles'. He had said that 'I was not in any sorrow. I enjoyed it so I drank it. But then I understood one thing that the way I was drinking, I would be able to survive only till the age of 52-53. Then on July 31, 1991, I decided to give up alcohol completely. That night I finished the entire bottle of rum and never touched alcohol again.
