A special ceremony was held on 28 april at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi in which the winners were awarded. Many faces from the cinema world were also among those who received the award. These include names from Shekhar Kapoor to singer Arijit Singh.
Legendary singer Pankaj Udhas was posthumously awarded the Padma bhushan for his contribution to the field of art. His wife Farida Pankaj Udhas received this award from President Draupadi Murmu. Shekhar Kapoor also received Padma Bhushan. During this time, the director arrived to receive the award wearing a black sherwani.

Ajith Kumar also received the Padma bhushan Award. When the award winners were announced in January, ajith said in a statement - I am very humble and honored to receive the prestigious Padma Award from the President of India. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable President of India Mrs. Draupadi Murmu and the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for this prestigious honor. It is a matter of good fortune for me to receive recognition at this level and I am grateful for this generous acceptance of my contribution to our nation.
