Coastal districts of Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli have been lashed out due to heavy rains. Rains are still happening in several places of these districts. The rains have completely spoiled day to day lives. Fishing operations across coastal districts remained suspended due to heavy winds and rough seas.


Due to the floods and heavy rains, there was a huge panic in Thoothukudi district. The heavy spell of rain has completely flooded most residential areas. Even though rains have stopped the aftermath of rains have caused worries. Municipal is taking necessary steps to flush out the water.


District administration recorded an average rainfall of 8.7mm across the district by Monday morning. Ottapidaram received 36mm of rain. The forecasting centre has ordered the fishermen to stay away from sea as the weather is not alright for next few days.


Rameshwaram in Ramanathapuram district received 66.5mm of rainfall while Thangachimadam and Pamban received 52mm and 37mm of rain. However no rains are in forecast for next three days.
