The state of Andhra Pradesh is all set for a mini election very
soon. There are reports that around 11 municipalities which couldn’t
face elections till now will be facing elections by October and November
2016. This looks like a good opportunity for TDP to prove its mettle.
These
municipalities are spread ideally across the length and breadth of
Andhra Pradesh and hence this is being treated as mini election and a
form of referendum for TDP government. The voter lists for the elections
is expected to be ready by May 25th.
The
government would be deciding the numbers of SC, ST, BC, Men as well as
Women voters and will be announcing the latest set of ward reservations.
Currently the scene is looking positive for TDP because the opposition
parties are all in shambles.
YSR Congress is
disappointed after the spate of back to back defections and the party
may not be able to make any mark. Congress party is yet to pick after
state bifurcation and BJP could be faring well only due to the alliance
with the ruling party. So, many see a favourable mandate for TDP is in
the offing!
