Protest In Canada: Declared State of emergency???

Government agencies will have powers

The Emergency Act gives the police more powers against public gatherings, illegal and dangerous activities such as blockades, etc. The government is also designating and securing important areas like border crossings and airports. Trudeau said that by implementing the Emergency Act, the system of public transport and flights would be restored.


Replacing the war Measures Act

The Emergency Act defines a national emergency as a temporary "immediate and critical situation". According to the news report, the Emergency Act gives special powers to respond in emergency scenarios affecting the public welfare (natural disasters, outbreaks of disease), public order (civil unrest), international emergencies, or war emergencies.
