Parties together as an anti-BJP front to form INDIA…P2

Samajwadi party (SP): The party was founded by the late leader and three-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav. Presently it is headed by his son Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh has completed one term as Chief Minister.

The party is the main opposition party in Uttar Pradesh. At present the party has three lok sabha and three rajya sabha MPs. The party won only five seats in the last general elections. After the by-elections in 2022, its number of seats in the lower house came down to just three.

RashtriyaLok Dal (RLD): RLD is mainly supported in western Uttar Pradesh. It is headed by Jayant Chowdhary. Jayant is the son of party founder Ajit Singh and grandson of former prime minister Charan Singh. Jayant Chowdhary is the only mp (Rajya Sabha) of the party.

Communist party of india (CPI): The cpi, founded in 1925, emerged as the second largest party in the country's first general elections in 1951–52 and in two subsequent elections in 1957 and 1962. However, its electoral base is shrinking.

It is the only party in the country's electoral history to have only one election symbol - maize and sickle - since the first general elections. In april this year, the election commission had revoked its national party status due to its poor electoral performance.

In the 2014 lok sabha elections, cpi contested on 67 seats and won only one seat. In 2019, the party contested 49 seats, won two seats and currently has two lok sabha members and two rajya sabha members.

It has lost its national status after losing state party recognition in West bengal and Odisha. The party currently retains state party recognition in Kerala, tamil Nadu and Manipur. In Kerala, it is part of the ruling LDF.
