T. B. Jayachandra, special representative of the karnataka government to New delhi and Shira MLA, said that the report of the genealogy study conducted in connection with the inclusion of the Kunchitiga community in the OBC list of the Center is already in the office of the President. He was speaking at the central government's OBC rights meeting for Kunchitigars held at Kunchitiga Community Bhawan, Kothitopu Road in the city in partnership with akhil Kunchitiga Mahamandal Bangalore and Kunchitiga Okkaligara Vidyabhivriddhi Sangha Tumkur.
There is a need for central OBC reservation to empower the socially, economically, educationally and politically backward Kunchitiga community. He expressed confidence that the report of approaching the office of the President would come in favor of Kunchitiga. Devaraju Arasu, when he was the chief minister, formed the Havanur Commission to empower the economically, educationally, socially and politically backward communities in the society. The Havanur Commission had also reported that the Kunchitiga community was the most backward society. After that in 1978 the Mandal Commission report came. He said that in the background of the order that the state government should give a report to the central government, even though the state recommended to the center that the Gangatagars, Kunchitigas, Okkaligaru Gowda are all backward communities, then the Kunchitiga community was dropped from the center's OBC list, and as a result, the children of the Kunchitiga community are deprived of any educational facilities.
Muralidhara Halappa, the former president of karnataka Skill Development Corporation, said that agriculture and dairying are the basic professions of the society, Kunchiti people are hardworking, self-respecting and do not lend a hand to anyone. There has been some setback due to lack of political alignment to include the community in the Centre's OBC list. Political representation is needed to enter the community legislature and parliament House. But it is ironic that our community is not in the OBC list of the Centre.
After appointing Justice rohini to the National Commission for backward classes, the state government had given 3A reservation to the backward classes from the genealogy study conducted by mysore and expressed confidence that the community would get representation in all ways if the OBCs get reservation at the Centre.
Legislative Council member Chidananda Gowda said that the demand of the Kunchitiga community is 28 years old and there is a need for central OBC reservation for the next generation of our society which has the largest population. By putting this demand on the shoulders of T. B. Jayachandra, the delhi Special Representative of the State government, all the gain, loss and credit should be given to him. T. B. Jayachandra said that he has the power to take it to its logical conclusion.
Legislative Council Member naveen said, "We will bring at least 15 MPs to you in delhi to include the Kunchitiga community in the OBC list of the Centre. tb Jayachandra assured him that we all will stand by you even in the Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad.
In the meeting, mp G.S. appealed to Kunchitigars for OBC rights from the central government. Basavaraju and T. B. Jayachandra, Special Representative of the State government, New Delhi.
